Emmy Douglas
PhD Candidate, Stellenbosch University
Emmy Douglas is a seasoned Environmental Health Practitioner with over 31 years of experience in public sector organizations. She has developed deep expertise in interpreting and applying South African health and environmental management legislation. Her leadership includes serving in various high-profile roles within the South African Institute of Environmental Health (SAIEH), such as Chairperson for the Garden Route and Western Cape Province, and as National Deputy President. She is also a member of the South African Women in Science (SAWISE).
Apart from her PhD Candidacy at Stellenbosch University, Emmy holds a Master’s in Environmental Management, a B.Tech in Environmental and a National Diploma in Public Health.
Emmy led the Garden Route District Municipality’s biomonitoring project, Adopt a River (2005), which she presented at both national and international conferences, including in Brisbane, Australia (2007).
